“What’s the point? Why try? I fail so often, I might as well give in and sin all the way. I’ll never conquer this thing.”
You are just where God wants you to be… utterly powerless and solely dependent on Jesus for the healing you need. The power of Christ is most readily available at the point of your greatest weakness. If it were any other way, you would not need God. As it is, you are desperate for a God who cares.
There is a HUGE difference between surrender and resignation.
Judas suffered from the guilt and shame of betraying Jesus and resigned himself to the fate he knew he deserved. Taking matters into his own hands, he continued down the path leading to his eternal demise. Judas was a proud man who fell and fell hard.
Peter deeply felt the same burden of guilt and shame when he denied Christ. Forced to his knees, Peter surrendered to the admission of his own powerlessness, flinging himself upon the mercy of a God who cares. Peter fell but got up again, and again, and again…
You are not Judas. You are Peter and upon the rock of your humble surrender to the mighty grace of God, Jesus will build His church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
Find the strength you need. Pick up your Bible and immerse yourself in His Word of hope…
